“She brought out the best in my playing through positive, caring, criticism meted out with a dose of humor....only when I heard her play or sing the music did I feel the full potential of the piece...Maria inspired me in ways that go beyond the music.”--Jeanette Ben Farhat, Instructor, Political Science

“Maria Tamburrino is highly committed to her pupils. She exceeded my expectations as an instructor... I left her tutelage with not only  graduate school scholarships, but with a passion for music and love for the flute.”-- Kathryn Shaffer, professional flute teacher

“A remarkable aspect of M.Tamburrino is her detailed attention to tone. Each of her pupils develops a beautiful tone, as evidenced at the yearly recitals...she also gives concise rigorous lesson plans which build superior technique....while bringing out the musician in each pupil.”--Natasha Dobrinen, Research Professor of Math, former member of SFSYO

“I am an adult flute student. Maria Tamburrino has also taught my two daughters...As an adult flute student, I struggle, and Maria understands... Maria is “child centered.” She understands what each child needs and meets them at their own level, making them grow always beyond expectations.”--April Tilles, teacher and parent

“I am 14 years old.  Maria is a great teacher because of her experience, enthusiasm, and extensive knowledge of the flute...  she has a special way of making lessons fun as well as challenging.......She sets such a good example of how hard work and discipline pay off. When I see her perform, it motivates me to try harder.”--Katherine Rea, student

“Maria is a wonderful teacher, flutist, musician, and person...to listen to her is to be inspired....her communication of knowledge is excellent....she was so well rounded in her teaching, working on sound and technique and , most of all, how to play expressively....”--Angela Wiegand, member of Debussy Trio and LA Opera
