Dear Mrs. T,
Happy Mother's Day to you!
You are the wonderful mother of our flute family! I truly appreciate the influence that you have had on me during these past five years. In addition to inculcating me with sophisticated flute techniques and a lifelong love for music, you have taught me to show passion to others. I learned piano for 5+ years in primary school and flute with another teacher for 2 years before she recommended you to me. During those 7 years, however, I rarely knew any of the other students; my teachers also had annual recitals, but the audience left right after the students' performance. When I started with you, you said that you wanted us to treat all the other flute students like my family. Well, your infectious passion and enthusiasm has certainly helped!
...your workshops helped me overcome stage fright. While I was more shy in primary and middle school, your workshops helped me feel more confident on stage and also in front of other audiences, such as for school club meetings and presentations.
Thank you again for everything!!!!!!
Love,
Jennifer

"She brought out the best in my playing through positive, caring, criticism meted out with a dose of humor....only when I heard her play or sing the music did I feel the full potential of the piece...Maria inspired me in ways that go beyond the music."
--Jeanette Ben Farhat, Instructor, Political Science
"Maria Tamburrino is highly committed to her pupils. She exceeded my expectations as an instructor... I left her tutelage with not only graduate school scholarships, but with a passion for music and love for the flute."
-- Kathryn Shaffer, professional flute teacher
"A remarkable aspect of M.Tamburrino is her detailed attention to tone. Each of her pupils develops a beautiful tone, as evidenced at the yearly recitals...she also gives concise rigorous lesson plans which build superior technique....while bringing out the musician in each pupil."
--Natasha Dobrinen, Research Professor of Math, former member of SFSYO
"Maria is a wonderful teacher, flutist, musician, and person...to listen to her is to be inspired....her communication of knowledge is excellent....she was so well rounded in her teaching, working on sound and technique and , most of all, how to play expressively...."
--Angela Wiegand, member of Debussy Trio and LA Opera
